New Years Thought 2020

May your coming year be filled with magic, dreams, and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful. Don't forget to create some art. Write. Or draw. Or build. Or sing.

Or live as only you can. I hope somewhere in the next year you surprise yourself.

I hope you have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously. That you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it. That you will be loved, that you will liked, and that you will have people to love and like in return. And most importantly because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now, that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.

For a mother and child, love is the unshakable foundation.

Imagine what would happen if we applied foundational love elsewhere. What if we felt that same bond, with strangers, neighbors, colleagues, and even adversaries. When love is the foundation, we see ourselves reflected in the others eyes. Love teaches us to be kinder and softer. It guides our actions so we become more fair and compassionate.

So when there is tension, but when love is present there is also respect and openness and understanding. Even amid friction there is peace; amid discord there is humanity.

So today as you cross paths with your fellow human beings, let love be the foundation. Whether or not there is friendship or agreement or understanding, let there be love.
